Is the Fear of Saggy Skin Keeping You from Losing Weight?

Working in the weight loss realm, I often hear people say, “I don’t want to lose too much weight because I don’t want to look old.” While it, unfortunately, is pretty common to lose a lot of weight and then be plagued with saggy skin, that DOES NOT have to be the case.

Here are 3 things you can do to lose weight and not get saggy skin:

1) Educate yourself on why it’s happening.

What is the reason that you can’t seem to lose weight without it seeming like you aged 20 years? To answer this question, we have to start at the beginning of the weight gain phenomenon in your body. Weight gain happens when a person experiences too much chronic stress. When the body is overly stressed, it begins to produce higher levels of cortisol (a stress hormone), which is produced by the adrenal glands. When cortisol levels rise, the body is not able to utilize glucose well anymore. Think about a time when you are really frazzled and can’t think straight… Well that’s what is happening when you are constantly stressed and living a consistently stressful lifestyle. Our bodies are frazzled and so they can’t do what they need to do. Normal dieting is simply putting more stress on the body instead of alleviating it. Remember, an educated dieter is a successful dieter. You need to know if what you’re doing is causing stress or decreasing stress. That will be the determining factor as to whether or not you can lose any weight and not have saggy skin.

2) Eat REAL food on an all-natural diet.

This is VERY important! Everyone could simply count calories and only eat a piece of celery every day and lose weight. Yes. That is possible, and really that is all that some diets have you do. Think about it: sometimes you are encouraged to eat things that are basically cardboard so that you don’t feel hungry, but your body isn’t getting any sort of nutrient from that. So yes, you will lose weight if you’re only drinking one weight loss shake a day, but is that lowering the stress level on your body? Probably not. For this reason, dieting must be done correctly with an all-natural diet. Your body will function at its’ best once it is at its’ healthiest weight. Therefore, it will be on board with the idea of losing the extra pounds. It will only do this and lower in its’ stress levels, however, when it is receiving the nutrients it so desperately needs. Now we all know that you could start clean eating and that you can lose weight by doing that over the long run. there are also natural weight loss programs that will decrease stress (causing your skin to not be baggy) and help you to lose weight quickly. 3) Target the correct type of fat.

Did you know that there are three types of fat in your body? First, you have dermal fat which is a part of your skin. It is what keeps the other 2 layers of your skin connected to muscle and bone. The second is structural fat. Structural fat is the padding that you have in different places that are strategically there to make life more comfortable. This type of fat is in places like the pads of your feet and in your hands. These two types of fat are needed in life and should be preserved if possible. Unfortunately, in traditional dieting, these are the first two types of fat to be lost. That’s why, sometimes, people feel like their skin gets saggy or like the pads of their feet hurt to walk on. That’s because those fats are the first to burn. The third type of fat is adipose fat. This is the fat that surrounds the organs and where nutrients, along with toxins, are stored away for future use. This is the fat that first appears in the gut, around the midsection of the body, and in your hindquarters. The key to dieting and not getting saggy skin is to target the adipose fat right off the bat. There are different nutrients that work with the body in order to do that.

You can diet AND not get saggy skin! You just need to go about it the correct way!
